Shamiana, Lunch Buffet

Shamiana
where - The Taj Mahal Hotel, Colaba, Mumbai
Cuisine - Multi Cuisine
Rupaiya - Rs 2200 (Without Alcohol)
Suggestions - Not an exotic spread but excellent food

Okay so the occassion was parents wedding anniversary and wanted to treat them to the Lunch Buffet either at the Taj President or the Shamiana. Called up the Taj Corp Office, they recommended the Shamiana and there we were!

Okay so in terms of Ambiance - Its strictly okay, small, a bit cluttered, not too much space, like any other regular restaurant !

Service - Really really good, perfect!

The food - Breads & Salad spread is good - includes a wide variety with various fruits and vegetables like dates, Litchi, Apple, Pomograntes, Pineapples, interesting but good!. Main course spread was okay - there were some Gujarati starters, few regular vegetarian and non vegetarian vegetables, breads, rice, yellow dal and biryani. Again the spread was the usual, nothing exotic. The food however was brilliant, it could have been the simple pulao, or their gujarati snacks, but all of them were just absolutely delicious. They had a live pasta counter, ordered a white sauce pasta and it was brilliant!

Desserts - the most important section for me - absolutely fantastic! It included Bengali Mithai, icecreams, Malpua, fruit cakes, and a lot of assorted desserts made from cream,  coffee, chocolate and fruits. It was just awesome!

Shamiana has two buffets - the regular lunch buffet and just the salad and the dessert buffet (For about 1200) - would recommend the latter, its quite value for money :)

About Me

My photo
Some people are born to sing, some to dance, some to play a sport. well I believe that I was born to eat, I am serious. For starters I am always hungry. Well i love food, i just wished it would not add calories. Anyways, if I am at home, id prefer my tais kanda poha and pulao, Moms rasam rice, aloo sabji, dads dal and My fav raita. Outside I have lots of favorites - Big Chill in delhi for Italian, Tomatoes in Ahmedabad for Mexican, Indian could be Vishwa Samrat in Mumbai. Some people eat to live, I think I def live to eat. I might be vegetarian who hates paneer, but i still have a lot of options, cause there are so many eateries in the world and so much to sample! So this blog is an attempt to share my food experiences, my likes, dislikes. I also travel a little bit, so hoping to add listings from different cities. It would be great, if you could drop a line, add your recommendations or comments. Cheers!
